FAQ’s

  • Where is the shop located?

The shop is located within my home in Amherstview Ontario, near the Kingston border (Amherst Dr. and Coronation Blvd.) The exact address is provided when you book your shopping appointment.

In-person shopping appointments take place here. However, the shop has partnered with fellow mama-owned small business Chew Me Baby to offer a pick-up point in Kingston’s east end. You can choose these options at check out.

  • Where do the clothes you carry come from?

I purchase lots from local mothers and also accept donations (thank you!) Sometimes I will personally thrift especially awesome pieces when I come across them.

Cycled from one local mama to another, pretty cool, eh?!

  • Can I shop in person and try things on?

    Yes! That’s absolutely encouraged.

Fit is extremely important when you’re pregnant as carrying a baby can already be uncomfortable enough! Nursing pieces should aid you (not hinder you) along your breastfeeding journey as well.

Whether you’re pregnant or nursing, your maternity and postpartum pieces should serve you while making you feel beautiful and stylish, and sometimes the only way to know if they will is to try them on!

  • What can I expect when I come?

I’ll meet you at my front door and walk you downstairs to the shop, set up in what used to just be my home office.

You’ll walk past my rec room and playroom, where your little one is welcome to play, or your kids could watch a show while you browse.

I’ll quickly show you how the shop is organized and help you narrow in on anything you particularly need, and then you have the room to yourself! I’m happy to help or entirely leave you alone, whatever makes you feel most comfortable. I usually hang out in the rec room just outside the shop door, so you can just give me a holler.

If you’d like to see a peek, head to the See The Shop page.

  • How do I book an appointment to come to the shop?

Send along a message via Instagram or Facebook Messenger and I will get back to you to set up a time. You can also use email or the get-in-touch form if you like.

  • Can I bring along my baby/child?

    Absolutely!

There is a full playroom available for your use steps from the shop door, and I, being a former educator and now mom of two, am happy to help keep your kiddo busy while you browse.

Whether you’re coming by with a baby, toddler, or the whole gang, all are welcome!

  • Do you have any pets in your home shop?

No. No pets live at our house unless you count my toddlers who sometimes act like animals!

Our family cat has been rehomed to live with my mother at her place since things were a little too busy for her here (two boys 4 and under weren’t her vibe).

  • What payment do you accept in-person?

Cash or e-transfer is accepted at the time of purchase if you are shopping in person.

  • What condition are the clothes in? Are they laundered?

Items carried and sold in the shop are in impeccable condition and often are new with tags! If it’s not brand new, it’s laundered, dried, and steamed to ensure maximum cleanliness.

Items that are slightly worn, discoloured, or stained are still accepted by donation and will be included in the $5 bin for your perusal when you visit!

  • What's the price point?

The shop strives to price pieces as affordably as possible, with items available for as little as $5. In general, you’ll find pieces that range from $7-$80 in price.

  • What's the $5 Bin?

The $5 bin is a physical basket here in the shop that houses items that are just $5!

Why this price? These items were donated to the shop and/or may have a slight stain, hole, or wear. But, they still have plenty of life left in them.

These items will not be posted on the website or on social media, but you’re welcome to rummage and choose what you like when you shop in person.

You can see a peek of the $5 bin on the See The Shop page.

  • Can I use your washroom when I visit?

Yep! Also steps from the shop door.

Having been pregnant myself, I understand how it feels to have a tiny human crushing your bladder. Feel free to use the washroom and make yourself comfortable! Well, as comfortable as you can be while making a human that is.

  • What if I have to nurse or change my baby while there?

    Totally fine!

I have lots of seating options and you’re welcome to nurse your little one before you hit the road. We don’t want any hungry babies screaming in the car. I’ve breastfed two of my own, I get it!

  • Is your shop accessible?

Sadly no. As it is located in my home there are stairs as you enter and stairs that will lead you downstairs to the shop door.

Should you need accommodation please send me a message and I would be happy to see how I may help!

  • How do I sell/donate my clothing to you?

If you have maternity or nursing clothing that you no longer need, the shop would be thrilled to ensure your items get rehomed to a fellow mama!

Donations help to keep costs down and keep the $5 bin of items stacked. Should you like to donate, just send along a message via social media or get in touch. For selling, please fill out the form on the “Sell & Donate” page. You’ll find all the details about donating and selling there.

  • Can you help me shop and style items?

Yes! That’s music to my ears!

I am formally a published fashion stylist and I remember being a first-time mom and having no idea how to dress my growing body.

I am happy to help you figure out what you may need and put outfits together with you if you like. Just ask!

  • Do I have to wear a mask? What about illnesses?

The shop is mask friendly, meaning if you arrive wearing a mask, I will also wear one, and vice versa! Whatever you feel comfortable with is the goal.

As for illness, should I, or anyone in my household feel under the weather, you will be notified and your appointment will be rescheduled for another suitable time.

As a mom of two little kids, we take illness seriously. Let’s s-not spread the snot!

  • I'm traveling, do you have clothing for all seasons?

Yes! However, the shop is limited in terms of display space, so off-season items are stored within the shop closet so as to not interfere with the shopping experience.

That being said, should you be looking for off-season clothing (for example, shorts in December as you’re off to a tropical destination), just holler! These pieces will be made available for you to perusal and try on if you like.

  • Can you help me virtually?

    I would love to!

Just send me a message and let me know what you’re looking for and in what size. I’ll respond with a personalized video sharing what’s in stock that may suit your needs.

Then, if you’d like to come to try things on I’ll leave the items that caught your eye out and ready for when you arrive.

  • Does the shop sell/consign other baby/kids items?

It used to, but no longer.

The shop used to carry baby and toddler clothing as well as a few secondhand baby items. But, in the interest of space and demand, the shop now only houses adult clothing.

A few baby/toddler shoes remain should you visit in person, as well as my very gently used breast pump and accessories, if you’re interested!

  • Will you resell/consign my baby/toddler clothing and items?

No, unfortunately, due to lack of space the shop no longer resells secondhand kid’s items.

The demand has been for a dedicated maternity and nursing shop in our area, as we have plenty of amazing kid’s consigners already, such as @goodfinds.pec, @popcycle_kingston, @canadiansavingmom.consignment, and Evergreen Kids Thrift.

  • Who runs this shop anyway?

Glad you asked! My name is Anna Ruck. I’m a stay-at-home/work-from-home mom of two boys 4 and under. I am also self-employed as a content creator and social media consultant.
